Ingredients
1 x 750 ml bottle dry red wine
1 orange studded with whole cloves
2 sticks cinnamon
6 cardamom pods, bruised
2 stars anise
6 black peppercorns, slightly bruised
1 piece naartjie peel
Method
Place wine in potjie.
Add orange.
Place spices into muslin bag and add to the wine with naartjie peel.
Slowly bring wine to the boil. (Remember, the slower the wine is heated, the better the flavour.)
Remove from heat.
Place a metal spoon into a glass when pouring in the hot wine, otherwise the glass might break.
