Ingredients
750 g mixed dried fruit
200 ml each dry white wine and water
1 stick cinnamon
30 ml orange liqueur
250 ml orange juice
30 ml lemon juice
2 whole cloves
1 piece orange peel
4 crushed cardamom pods
30 ml butter
Method
Mix all the ingredients together, except butter, and soak overnight or for a few hours in any container that will not react with the acid of the fruit.
Melt butter in a potjie.
Add soaked fruit, cover with lid and simmer for 20-30 minutes or until fruit is tender.
Remove seasonings and serve hot or cold as dessert or add more lemon juice and serve as a side dish with meat.
