1.3 litres water
10 ml salt
5 ml cooking oil
350 ml cake flour
1 egg, beaten
Butter
Method
Bring 1 litre water, 5 ml salt and 5 ml cooking oil to the boil in the potjie.
Sift dry ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix with egg and remaining water.
Spread dough onto a small bread board with a spoon and then, using a spatula, scrape off pieces the size of walnuts into the boiling water.
Cook for 1 minute, remove and spoon into a colander.
Repeat until all the dough is used up.
Dot spatzle with a few knobs of butter and fork through gently.
Place colander over hot water to keep warm.
Serve with any potjie.
